The women's meet starts with preliminary action begin- ning Thursday in Minneapolis. The men's meet is the following week in Austin, Texas. Trio headed To naTional championships Cashe' Quiroga will lead three Boilermakers in action this weekend in Oklahoma City for the NCAA Wrestling Cham- pionships. Quiroga will be compet- ing at 133 pounds while Danny Sabatello (141 pounds) and Braden Atwood (197) round out Purdue's competitors in the field. First-round action begins on Thursday, with Friday's quar- terfinals being broadcast na- tionally on ESPNU beginning at 11 a.m. FleTcher, Fecho lead Boilers in Florida Danielle Fletcher provided the offensive spark, and Lilly Fecho was again strong in the circle for Purdue over the week- end at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. The Boil- ers won four of their six games and could have won all six if not for some untimely mistakes. Fecho went 3-1 at the event, allow- ing only five runs in 21 innings in the circle. She finished with three complete games and two shutouts while striking out 23 and only walk- ing four. Fletcher hit .619 for the weekend, collecting 13 hits in 21 at-bats. She also drove in sev- en runs while scoring three. Andie Varsho and Tori Chiodo each collected eight hits apiece, and Varsho scored five runs and Chiodo had six. In one of Purdue's two losses, it allowed six unearned runs in a 6-4 loss and in the other, it allowed No. 12 Baylor to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh for a one-run victory. Purdue remains in Florida as it prepares for Tuesday's game with Central Florida be- fore opening conference play at Penn State (6-15) for a three- game series beginning Friday. Kan leads purdue in augusTa Aurora Kan's 17th-place finish led Purdue to an eighth- place result at the Lady Jag- uar Intercollegiate weekend in Georgia. Vanderbilt took the team title with a three-round total of 896 to outpace second- place Mercer by 10 strokes. Fellow Big Ten team Illinois fin- ished seventh, just two strokes ahead of the Boilers, who tied with Troy at 930. Anna Lund and Johanna Tillstrom added a pair of top-30 individual finishes for Purdue, Cashé Quiroga Purdue Danielle Fletcher hit .619 during the USF Invitational last weekend, helping the Boilermakers to a 4-2 finish at the event. She had seven RBI and scored three runs.
