and it was about that time that head
coach John Beilein realized his team
should have a legitimate chance at a
second championship in three years.
"I don't think about those things
[during the season], but when we
were 8-0 at one time … maybe," he
said. "When we won those road
games I said, 'Okay, what does his-
tory tell us? That we usually win at
home. If we can continue what his-
tory has told us, we'll have a chance
at winning this whole thing.'
"We already had four or five road
wins, and our best ever was probably
five in the league, which I think is a
heck of an accomplishment. Getting
five pretty early in the schedule —
they weren't at the end — allowed us
to eventually get to seven."
And seven was more than enough
when the Wolverines held serve in
Head coach John Beilein and the Wolverines cut down the nets after their final home game,
to mark winning the Big Ten regular-season title outright.
