MICHIGAN RECRUITING he sees Wisconsin and Ohio State, among others, U-M is still the favor- ite for his pledge. TOP TIGHT END OFF THE BOARD Michigan brought in its top tight end prospect in the 2014 class, land- ing Hinsdale (Ill.) Central four-star Ian Bunting. The Maize and Blue will try to complement him with another top catch-and-block player in the 2015 group, but one of the top op- tions is no longer available. Avon (Conn.) Old Farms four-star Chris Clark was one of the hottest prospects at the beginning of the recruiting cycle, picking up offers from Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and, of course, Michi- gan. However, he decided to end his process early, pledging to North Car- olina March 16 in a surprising devel- opment. Although Clark is ranked as just the No. 7 tight end and No. 176 player overall nationally, his offer list indicated that he may be underrated. All is not lost for the Wolverines at the position. Three other pros- pects remain uncommitted and hold Michigan offers. Jefferson City (Mo.) Helias four-star Hale Hentges is the most highly rated of the bunch, rank- ing No. 4 at the position and No. 150 overall nationally. He plans an April visit to Michigan. Douglas (Ga.) Cof- fee four-star Jalen Wilkerson is the nation's No. 11 tight end, and he is just outside the Rivals250. The most interesting prospect should be a familiar name for Michi- gan fans. Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius four-star Tyrone Wheatley Jr. could play either defensive end or tight end in college. The 6-6, 245-pounder pre- fers offense, but his father, a former Michigan running back and current running backs coach of the Buffalo Bills, thinks the upside is greater on defense. Wheatley has visited Ann Arbor multiple times, and the family connection is obviously strong. ❏ Rivals.com rates U-M target Hale Hentges of Jefferson City (Mo.) Helias as a four-star prospect, the No. 4 tight end in the land and the No. 150 overall player in the class of 2015.
