MY JOURNEY - BY I OCTANE
TRACK OF THE MONTH
BAD MIND WAYS - BY SIZZLA
Kingston born and raised Sizzla has
just released his debut single 'Bad Mind
Ways', and it was a pleasure listening
to it for you.
Debut album 'First To The
Nation' found the right balance
between reggae and dancehall,
with several tracks sitting in the
middle. I Octane's latest effort
"My Journey" puts reggae
sounds ahead, but merges
into familiar territory before
the song's climax. The record
proposes computer enhanced
beats alongside instrument
based sounds. And where
Crying had a harsh, almost
bleak mood, My Journey is
more sophisticated, upbeat
and gentle in tone. Which we
could take as a sign of maturity
by the Jamaican artist.
A versatile singjay-style
vocalist with a gruff, gravelly
tone, Sizzla is capable of
both rapid-fire chatting and
powerful, melodic singing,
and his best backing rythms
are among the strongest in
contemporary reagge scene.
Beyond all of this, in this track
you can find his characteristic
lyrics, full of consciousness and
hope. Check it out!

Oje Ken Ollivierre was born in Jamaica in the early '80s. Being his
parents deeply involved in the island's reggae scene, his big des-
tiny was written since he started leading the militant band, Indig-
gnation, alongside whom he is set to tour intensely during 2014.
This powerful songwriter and philosophical thinker articulates the
righteous anger of an emerging generation, and he is now estab-
lishing himself as a Revival master. Try to catch him in one of his
numerous live shows this year, and listen to his latest track featur-
ing Chronixx.
