PERFORMANCE I t's difficult to pass a test if there's no way of grading the results. Dynamometer ownership allows speed shops to offer customers accurate readings of the performance enhancements new upgrades provide. A dyno purchase is obviously an important investment that should be thoroughly researched prior to making a commitment. For businesses that determine a system is right for them, the benefits can include the ability to offer testing, tuning and service work, and the knowledge gained by reviewing unbiased results. "I'm not sure how you would demonstrate to a customer the value of your work without the ability to perform a baseline test and quantify the improvements you made to their engine," notes Mike Giles of SuperFlow Dynamometers & Flowbenches.
