first day it could. Matt Painter
traveled to Virginia this past
week to meet with Thompson's
mother.
In other such news, Purdue
had Youngstown State trans-
fer Ryan Weber on campus
Saturday for an unofficial visit
and workout, though it is not
yet clear how interested the
Boilermaker coaches are in the
forward.
Weber averaged 12.2
points per game and shot
nearly 42 percent from three-
point range as a sophomore at
Youngstown State.

S Purdue has reportedly
been in contact with BYU fifth-
year transfer guard Matt Car-
lino, who'll be one of the most
sought-after fifth-year players
nationally.
The Boilermakers also initi-
ated contact with transferring
guards Tyler Lewis (North Car-
olina State) and Maurice Wat-
son (Boston University), but
they've committed Butler and
Creighton, respectively.
