Kan paces purdue at rainy day shootout Aurora Kan won individual medalist honors over the week- end, shooting a two-round total of 149, to lead Purdue to a sec- ond-place finish at the Purdue Rainy Day Shootout. Kent State won the team title at 618 with Purdue four shots back at 622. Brooke Beegle finished sec- ond individually, three shots behind Kan at 152. Johanna Till- strom finished 10th for Purdue, shooting 160. The Boilermakers travel to Columbus this weekend for the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Sat- urday and Sunday. The men's team returns to action this weekend as well as it hosts the Boilermaker Invitation- al with first-round play beginning on Saturday. BaseBall drops two of three in east lansing P u r d u e ' s struggles this spring contin- ued over the weekend as the Boilers dropped the final two games of their three-game se- ries at Michigan State. After win- ning Game 1 in thrilling fash- ion, Purdue lost a pair of one- run games that sealed its third consecutive se- ries loss to open Big Ten play. After blowing a late-game lead in the opener, the Boiler- makers used a three-hit 11th in- ning to score twice and earn the victory. That slim margin of victo- ry was a theme for the weekend as the Spartans rebounded with a 7-6 victory in Game 2 before a 2-1 win in the finale. The Boilermakers (7-24, 3-6) will host Butler on Tuesday, the third meeting between the two teams this spring. Purdue has won the previous two meetings, 3-2 in Birmingham and 6-1 in In- dianapolis.
