20 1 4 M AY PRINTWEAR | 41 Glitter heat transfers are a winner in the wom- en's sector. Also, some transfers can also be layered for a more dynamic look. With just some toner, paper and a heat press, the possibilities for decorations are seemingly endless. What's more, deco- rators can often layer transfer media to cre- ate dynamic multi-media designs, as Greg Markus, RhinoTech, explains. He offers the example, of layering a florescent pink heat transfer with a crumpled metallic foil. The result is bright colors popping through me- tallic shine for a high-impact graphic. Another feminine heat transfer option is glitter transfers as they are both eye-catching and versatile, reasons Jody Larson, Howard Sportswear Graphics Express Inc. Glitter can be added to entire areas or strategically applied for a subtler appearance. Additionally, both standard and glitter transfers offer a cost-effective solution to budget conscious customers. Most heat transfers work on 100 percent cotton and 50/50 blends, opening up the opportunity for use on a number of prod- ucts. However, when applying glitter trans- fers, synthetic fibers are often times more problematic, as are exceptionally stretchy products, says Larson. pw PW_MAY14.indd 41 4/17/14 12:01 PM
