115 ABOVE ALL, KNOW THIS Chapter twenty-three I recently heard a story about a young man that was a few years younger than Bryant but who played baseball with him in high school. This particular boy was one of those who looked up to Bryant, and after Bryant's death he carried a picture of him in his wallet. One day traveling down the interstate, he was involved in an auto accident and his automobile caught fire. Everything had burned in- side his vehicle along with his wallet. In the wallet, chard and melt- ed, he saw Bryant's picture. The only item to survive the crash was this picture of Bryant. He said he knew at that moment Bryant had helped save him from that accident and that the surviving picture was Bryant's way of letting him know he was protected. When I am in a dark place, and believe me that place will come and go depending on the day, I can feel comfortable by seeing a red bird or the #35. I truly believe my son is with the Lord but I also believe the Holy Spirit send signs of comfort for us. I told my family and friends about my red bird and, of course, they smile with love.
