I even remember thinking I would probably never sleep again. By this time, so many friends were there and caring for my needs had become the only way they felt needed or useful. My friend Pam, who lived in Memphis, opened her house up to my family and many friends who would sleep and eat there for the next several days. I finally saw my parents, who had driven in from south Arkansas. They were weeping so much that I began to worry about my Dad. I thought, "I don't know if they can take this pain." The team gathered in a circle as they did before each game. They put their hands together. The head coach asked Carson, my young- est and Bryant's brother, to stand in for Bryant.
