Easily one of the highlights of the evening was the team
video presentations, replacing last year's live entertain-
ment from the student-athletes. This year, six teams sub-
mitted brief tongue-in-cheek videos that were voted on by
the audience. The two finalists were men's and women's
swimming and diving (submitted separately).
The women's video was titled "A Bad Lip Reading" and
featured voiceovers of swimmers making inane com-
ments during practice and competition. The men's team
countered with "Sports in Speedos," which showed the
swimmers re-enacting all of Purdue's varsity sports in
standard swim gear and location. For example, golf was
depicted hitting an iron shot from the 10-meter platform,
and wrestling was showcased with swimmers (yes, in
speedos) grappling under water. The 90-second clip ended
with a "Boiler Up" belly flop that put an exclamation point
on what would be the winning submission. It drew the big-
gest laugh of the evening, with maybe one exception.
Athletic director Morgan Burke gave the senior address
and presented the graduating crew
with many pieces of advice, including
"change, transition, uncertainty, all
with a lot of adrenaline, is your future."
Burke also listed the necessary life
skills that all Purdue student-athletes
are equipped with after the four-year
competitive experience.
Oh, and that one exception on the
biggest laugh? It might have been when
Bogdanova took Burke by the hand and

In one of the lighter moments of the evening, Bogdanova
joked with thrower Chukwuebuka Enekwechi that her husband
had just called after Bogdanova had said earlier she thought
Enekwechi was "cute." Bogdanova told Enekwechi that he
had no worries, though, because her husband was "short."

Senior outfielder Andie Varsho, nominated for female indi-
vidual performance, snapped a selfie with volleyball senior
and Spark Plug nominee Carly Cramer and posted it on Twitter
later. She also made sure to include some other nominees
behind her, including cross country runner Matt McClintock and
the photo-bombing Carly Mercer, a swimmer.
