f IllustrateD volume 24, issue 5 1 a s n e a k p e e k a t g o l d a n d b l a c k i l l u s t r a t e d Time to take advantage E very picture tells a story. The one on the May/June edition of Gold and Black Illustrated is no different. And GoldandBlack.com readers, you can see for yourself. The first 25 to e-mail us will get a free copy of the issues, and all others can get it for $6.95 plus free ship- ping. That is basically at half price. In the issue we offer a complete breakdown of spring ball, but there is much more. There are football features on Frankie Williams, Jus- tin Sinz, in addition the 20-hour participation rule as it pertains to Purdue football that we have included in this promo. Also, there are stories on football and basketball recruiting, a look back at last year's men's and women's seasons and much more. It's well worth your time ... and for the first 25 of you it is FREE. Here's my quick take on Purdue foot- ball at the moment: If the Boilermakers are going to turn things around on the football field, it will come with Coach Darrell Hazell and staff coaching up his team. There is talent there, but not much experience. And the experience that is there has had to endure some tough times last year. Yet, one of the story lines in the May/June is- sue is how the staff and team have grown more comfortable with one another, in terms of ter- minology, expectations and the like. How well Hazell bonds with his Purdue constit- uency of alums, fans and players matters. And if you ask anyone who has spent time with Hazell, the answer that almost always comes back is "he couldn't be better." How well he connects with his players, the guys that really count, will tell the tale about how fast this turns around.
