The company is already working with licensed growers it feels can be trusted to be, as Baker describes them, "good stewards and keep the potatoes separate and the seed supply clean as the industry adopts the new technology." Enacting positive change is no small task, but Baker believes he and his colleagues—and others throughout the potato industry—are more than up to the challenge. "Simplot has a long-term vision for improving the potato, not just for the fry market but for the whole U.S. and ultimately around the world," he says.
