March 1, 2014 Dear Members: As I reflect on the fact that most of us had never heard of a "Polar Vortex" until this year, nor had we experienced the devastating effects that it recently has had on weather in North America, the annual wait till spring arrives has become even more intense this year than in previous years. Hopefully the effects of this strenuous weather will not adversely impact on our golf course. The 92nd Annual General Meeting was held at the club on Saturday, January 18th with 63 shareholder members in attendance. Gord Kack, in his final appearance as Greens Chair, outlined a detailed presentation both on the status of our Bunkers and Cart Path project and the proposed Re-routing project. He explained that we are on track to finish the Bunkers and Cart Path project on time and on budget by the fall of 2014. Gord also presented the timing and a detailed rationale for the Re-routing project, which was then followed by a question and answer period on the project. This presentation is available for viewing by all members on our website. Gord's presentation was followed by a full vote representing all those in attendance as well as the valid proxies that had been received. I am happy to report that the Course Re-routing project was approved by a 77% majority. Accordingly, we will proceed with this project in the Fall of 2014 in conjunction with the second half of the Bunkers and Cart Path project. Please note that the actual re-routing will not take place until the spring of 2015. As well, at the Annual General Meeting Finance Chair, Paul Davis presented our financial results for 2013, reporting that we continue to experience excellent financial results and we anticipate no major issues with our upcoming 2014 budget. I am happy to note that by the most current membership count we have reached our caps in all our membership categories and in fact have a small waitlist. Accordingly, we have scaled back our Trial Membership as our priority is to accommodate returning members or those wishing to join our club on a permanent basis. We will continue to monitor our Trial Membership numbers with regard to the optimum members that we should have in this category. The extreme weather that we have experienced this winter can have a damaging effect on our golf course and the temperature changes that result in prolonged ice cover can damage the turf.
