f
fair, we're going to line up and they're going to get in that
next spot, and if you get out of line, they're going to take
it. Physically, they're what you want. And after meeting
with them, we believe they are (in the right spot) men-
tally. It's not the learning curve and all the other variables
of being away as a freshman.
"It's hard, and you guys, doggone it, you put (Robin-
son) on the cover of a magazine and tell them they're
the next greatest thing. And then if they don't do well as
a freshman — heck, they could play 20 snaps a game as
a backup and plays 20 snaps on kickoff and they say, 'Be-
cause they didn't start, it's a failure.' Well, that's a pretty
good freshman year. They're still kids. I'm not worried
about them playing, my focus for them is to protect them,
keep them out of harm's way, don't let them fail. I'm more
worried about that."
Gold and Black: What about your secondary?
Hudson: "I'll like it when they're all out there prac-
ticing together finally. With class schedules and a couple
bang-bang injuries, all the sudden we had this guy there
and that guy here. We never really had the secondary,
we didn't have (them) competing every day. That's what
we'll get this August finally.
"I think they've embraced Coach (Taver) Johnson.
Walk by his office, you can't get a seat in there. They're
hanging out and listening, they're watching a lot of film,
and you see them out together and they're always work-
ing with each other."
