9. Carl Hagelin, LW, New York Rangers (NHL) An up-and-coming young forward, Hagelin has continued to make strides with his speed and skill. He recorded 38 points in 64 games in his 2011-12 rookie year and notched a career-high 17 goals in 72 games last season, add- ing 16 assists for 33 points. He was timed as the NHL's fastest skater in 2012, but he's been inconsistent when it comes to scoring. Speed and forechecking were Hagelin's fortes when he entered the NHL, and that's held true. He's prob- ably the Rangers' best forward when it comes to puck possession — now it's about finishing his chances. He did notch seven goals and five assists in 25 postseason games, helping lead the Rangers to the finals against the Los Angeles Kings (a five-game L.A. series win). 10. LaMarr Woodley, LB, Oakland Raid- ers (NFL) Injuries have slowed Woodley — once considered one of the league's top pass rushers — over the last few years, but many attribute that to his poor conditioning and workout habits. Woodley was at his best with Pittsburgh from 2008-11, notching 10 or more sacks in his first three years with the Steelers and nine in only 10 games in 2011. He tailed off significantly the last two seasons, managing only four sacks in 13 games in 2012 and five in 11 games in 2013, but Oakland signed him in the offseason expect- ing he'll return to form. He's still a relatively young (29) player with plenty of potential. Woodley and fellow free agent de- fensive end signee Justin Tuck are expected to be interchangeable at right and left defensive end, though Woodley could also see some time in a hybrid linebacker role. He'll strive to break the 50-tackle mark for the first time since 2010. ❑ Left winger Carl Hagelin of the New York Rangers posted a career-high 17 goals last season, adding 16 assists for 33 points in 72 games played.
