attrition, and Kelly said that has ham-
pered his ability to practice the way he
wants to late in the year.
This year, Kelly sought and found
five preferred walk-ons from all over
the country to bolster his freshman
class (see sidebar). Three of them held
scholarship offers to other Division I
programs. All five of them spent the
summer on campus working out with
the rest of the team.
"They're really good players," he
