Limelight 2013/14 Year in review 3 Emerging professionals are dispersed throughout every office, in every unit and on every project, directly and indirectly interacting with every client. Over 3 400 of Aurecon's 7 500 people are classified as emerging professionals, representing a significant percentage of our total workforce. Empowering them to lead rich and rewarding careers is not only beneficial to the individual, but to our clients, our communities and to Aurecon. So what is Limelight? Limelight is a network of proactive emerging professionals spread throughout the organisation. This network promotes a culture of involvement, innovation and improvement, running numerous personal and professional development activities and initiatives throughout the year. As well as coordinating these initiatives, Limelight plays an important role as a mouthpiece for emerging professionals, offering recommendations back to the business to improve processes, procedures and staff engagement. Limelight is a management-backed initiative. We have feedback sessions with senior leaders in our business and our ideas and recommendations are considered as key contributors to business planning. Participation in Limelight provides numerous other benefits for emerging professionals, including social interaction and the ability to expand professional networks, both internally and externally. Limelight is structured as a network of regional committees across Aurecon's geographies. The forum's presence is strongly established in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and is growing in the Middle East, Asia and other emerging regions. Each regional chairperson represents their committee and the emerging professionals in their location by sitting on the Global Limelight Committee. This committee meets regularly to share ideas, discuss issues and plan actions relating to the development of Aurecon's emerging professionals.
