34 Issue 65/ 2014 REGGAE / DANCE HALL guestlist.net Tarrus was raised through the prism of reggae by his dad, Jimmy Riley, a ska, rocksteady and reggae legend. Despite the fact that Riley Jr makes music for not that long compared to his father, among his accolades are Best Singer, Male Vocalist, Cultural Artiste, Song of the Year, and Best Song. This August Tarrus is coming to London with his friends- Randy Valentine and ALAINE to show what the real Jamaican reggae spirit is. NEW RELEASES EVENT REVIEW REMINISCE REGGAE BAND The musician's life reminds a Hollywood movie scenar- io: left home at the age of 14, worked hard all youth long at sugar plantation, won a local talent show and got the fame's blessing due to his enthusiastic temper. The career path, in turn, has never been smooth for a reggae perform- er- "Wet Dream", a massive hit in Jamaica back in old days (as well as now) was banned by the BBC Radio in the UK because of overly sexual lyrics, followed by a collaboration with an unsuccessful record label. However, those chal- langes only improved the content of the upcoming songs. While scrolling the list of Max's tracks, you may simply get confused with picking one to listen because all his pieces have that attractive names like "Buy you a rainbow", "Wet Dream" or "Blowing in the Wind". The musician aged 66, stays devoted to old school stan- dards of reggae: listeners' hearts begin melting when one tunes on to the wave of breezeness provided by Max Ro- meo's motives. Reminisce Reggae Band is a team of top touring session musicians that stands for the sound of real authen- tic reggae/ska. Check out their set on the last Thurs- day of this summer, which is comprised of material from legends of classic reggae everyone knows and loves! GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS More @ guestlist.net/indie Come and chill under classic reggae set by session musicians who perform never fading hits! It would be a shame not to know Bob Marley's contemporary whose music is as liberal and deep as the reggae's most recognized legend. MAX ROMEO
