JULIE & JULIA: WHEN FOOD BECOMES PART OF OUR POP CULTURE REAL JAM AT LONDON BRIDGE OPEN KITCHEN When people talk about food, they expect us to make refer- ences to restaurants or to diets or even health problems. But what is the real impact that food has on our pop culture? Lose yourself to eat: don't miss the evening of al fresco fine food and drink set! The movie Julie& Julia shows us how, through food, you can become popular in our social sphere through talking and writ- ing about meals in an original way. The protagonist of the film is the real life blogger Julie Powell who started to write a blog about all the recipes she has done following the ones of Julia Childs' famous books and videos. She makes her cooking a life experience and she narrates to her reader not only what recipes she is using, but why she chooses to make that specific meal in a specific day of her life. She is just not cooking or learning how to cook, she is de- veloping a whole new level which ties her readers to her life. Then post after post she became quite popular and now after years she is a professional writer. Julie&Julia was a box office hit. So is food becoming part of our pop culture? Appar- ently the answer to this question, is yes! This is just one of the many examples of youtubers or bloggers who are now able to make the difference. Originality is al- ways the key to success. So, you like eating pasta in restaurants? However, you always want it to be served right after yummy soup from a cafe, fol- lowed by mind-blowing brownies. We feel your pain.
