OUR PLAYLIST 21 Questions Baby James Rules/The Nippon Flu- teloop (stereo) Kid Sublime Animal Ambition 50 Cent Diggin' In The Crates Mister Modo/Ugly Mac Beer feat F Stokes Here's the hip hop on our playlist this month: P.SO's new project features twelve tracks from his Gateway to Greatness album, including four new ones and three remixes. P.SO stated, 'there's so many different styles of rap, which makes it difficult for fans to relate to some of the emerging sub-genres,' hence why he designed his latest album to connect all of these styles. The New York artist sure knows how to cater to hip-hop fans. ALBUM OF THE MONTH P.SO THE EARTH TONE - GATEWAY TO GREATNESS / CONSTELLATIONS After a hiatus, the multi-talented rapper from New York City returns with a new album. ARTIST OF THE MONTH LUPE FIASCO He's regarded and admired as a conscious hip-hop rapper. HIP HOP LEGENDS OUTKAST They are the heart of Atlanta. The dynamic duo formed in 1992, under the name Two Shades Deep, but later changed to OutKast. The reason for group members, André 3000 and Big Boi's succes is because of their contrasting lyrical styles, merged with a variety of music genres, to create distinctive sounds. Speak- erboxxx/The Love Below, which won a Grammy for 'Album of the Year', is a per- fect example. Big Boi cov- ered the first disc Speak- erboxxx, implementing his rapping style over hip-hop beats. 3000 took control of The Love Below, which has a mellow vibe, and features him singing over a blend of rock, soul and jazz beats. Overall, the album con- tained songs for all type of music lovers. Although the duo separated to pursue solo careers, their bromance remains strong. In January they announced to unite for their 20th an- niversary and perform at over 40 festivals worldwide. They kicked off their tour at the Coachella Festival in April. It's ironic how Lupe's career surfaced, considering he orig- inally hated hip-hop, due to its use of vulgarity and mi- sogamy. He addressed his stance in "Hurt Me Now", a track from his debut album Food & Liquor, which received three Grammy nominations and rose him to fame. Accessing the album, its Lupe's lyrical content that stands out the most, using his intellect to convey his anti-establishment views. Aside from his solo career, the ceo of 1st and 15th Enter- tainment, is the frontman of his rock band Japanese Car- toon, under his government name. 16 Issue 64 / 2014 HIPHOP / RNB guestlist.net More @ guestlist.net/rnb-hiphop
