INTERVIEW
HI GUYS, I'M CECILIA, YOU'RE
WATCHING GUESTLIST AND
I'M HERE IN THE WORKSHOP
IN SHOREDITCH WITH
ECHOTAPE. THEY PREVIOUSLY
PLAYED AN ACOUSTIC
SESSION FOR US AND NOW
I'M GOING TO HAVE A LITTLE
CHAT WITH THEM.
SO, FIRST I'D LIKE TO KNOW A
LITTLE BIT ABOUT ECHOTAPE.
HOW DID THIS START? WHEN
DID YOU CREATE THE GROUP?
MARC: We formed a couple
years ago; we've all known
each other for about ten years
now, being in different bands
and stuff. We decided to do
something a bit more upbeat,
more fun; yeah we decided to
do Echotape, so this is the new
stuff.
AND HOW WOULD YOU
DESCRIBE THE PHILOSOPHY
OF ECHOTAPE?
MIKE: Just basically having
fun, having a good time, and
enjoying ourselves, not thinking
about stuff too much, we're
trying to get off on stage, get
the energy going and try to get
the crowd involved. Just don't
take yourself to seriously really.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR
INSPIRATION?
MARK: Everyday life, all
situations that we come across
you know? There is not really one
source that we draw from. There
are obviously a lot of bands that
we're inspired by. Day to day
people can inspire me; people
like you guys and anyone really.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR
MAIN INFLUENCES IN TERM OF
MUSIC THEN?
MIKE:Personally I'm a massive
Led Zeppelin fan, John Bonham
is like my hero, I'm trying to be
more like him, well, I've got the
beard. As a band it's a lot of
David Bowie I suppose in places.
MARK: The Doors, Bruce
Springsteen the boss.
I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU
HAVE TRAVELED A BIT? WHAT
IS YOUR BEST ECHOTAPE
MEMORY?
MARK: We played at the
