La Femme (means 'the woman'), that is becoming quite big in France and that keeps emerging in the rest of Europe, have got their own style and it suits them pretty well. They discribe their music as synthetic and hyptonic, in a word, mysterious, just like women. With obvious rock and punk influences such as The Velvet Underground or The Cure, they manage to mix various tones to come up with an unique vibe. Who said French rock was like English wine? Oh, yeah, John Lennon... be that as it may, La Femme's previous work is full of promises that we can't wait to hear! GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS LA FEMME More @ guestlist.net/indie This month, we've got what it takes to frenchify your playlist: some surf rock new wave from the parisian quintlet La Femme, that keeps pleasing us since their first EPs and then with 'Psycho Tropical Berlin' released last year. Jade Vine are no strangers to gigs, having toured all over the UK and Greece, following their debut album Nothing Can Hide From Light. Having earned a good reputation from performing at prominent venues such as Dingwalls and The Underworld, ticket holders can expect to get their money's worth when the band hit 229. EVENT PREVIEW ABSENT KELLY INTRODUCING: JADE VINE On 27th June, 229 will headlined by a five piece band on the rise. EVENT REVIEW CAMDEN ROCKS FESTIVAL Saturday May 31st was like a normal day in Camden, but with a single difference: people were flocking in for a another reason. Indeed, twenty music venues of the area welcomed more than 200 band for the Camden Rocks Festival. Among them, the eccentric yet be- loved Purple Turtle hosted loud guitars and some old- school sounds from various bands that worth a look at. Palm Reader has drawn a big crowd bringing some heavy vibes into the club, as well as Exit International that probably did one of their best performances there. The Purple Turtle Camden hosted Exit International, Palm Reader, Deadly Circus Fire and more tearing bands for the London's rock'n'rollest festival: Camden Rocks Festival.
