Despite Ben Frost's work not particularly aligning itself with 'House' music, the creative intrigue of his work is truly fascinating. Residing in Iceland, his inspiration from space and aesthetic textrures is ever-so clear in his music. This latest album 'Aurora' is more of a conceptual, sensory ex- perience than just a clear-cut track by track LP. Co-found- er of the label/collective Bedroom Community, Frost has been in collaboration on a huge number of projects and releases over recent years, working with the likes of Brian Eno, SWANS and Tim Hecker whilst composing a great number of acclaimed film scores. Whilst being a long way from the club scene of London, here is an artist truly wor- thy of respect and recognition through his blend of sound design and melodic, churning, industrial immersion. Charlotte is a northern girl, born and bred in Blackburn, with a pop friendly voice. Her jaw must have dropped when she got the inbox saying Kenny Dixon Jr. wanted to remix one of her tracks. He has turned her chilled out, ambient pop original into a stripped down, "moody" warm up track that is essential for any DJs record collection this summer. With a release date still to be confirmed, Villalobos dropping this grower at Fabric last month, whilst probably being one of the biggest compliments in the game, can only increase the Hype around this track. It was made all the more sweeter by her actually being in the crowd when it was played. ALBUM OF THE MONTH QUENUM- FACE TO FACE You'll do very well to see a stranger combination than this in 2014.
