WHERE ARE YOU NOW? I just came back from London and Barcelona, recently I'm in Berlin. WHEN DID YOUR LOVE FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC BEGIN? I started to listen to Electronic music when I was 14. I remember records from Kraftwerk which blew my mind already that time. My mom showed me a lot of great stuff which is a massive influence for me even today. It didn't take long until I started to be obsessed with EDM... WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN EVERYDAY LIFE? I am trying to find my inspiration in many different things. My friends and family give me a lot of power and willingness to produce even more songs, nature, travels and new experiences, as well as the music of other artists. Sometimes even nice weather and a long walk are influential! I like to listen a lot of sounds of everyday life. It really brings a lot of ideas to my head. I often record different noises to use them later in my tracks. NAME 3 ARTISTS THAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO COLLABORATE WITH. It's definitely Oliver Huntemann, Boris Brejcha and Stephan Bodzin who were constantly giving me goose bumps since I only started to listen to their music. I'd love to add my own touch to their ideas or other way around and to see, if I could easily find myself working with such geniuses. YOU HAVE RECENTLY HAD YOUR DEBUT ALBUM RELEASED ON FREQUENZA RECORDS, CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT IT? I am really happy I was finally able to put this project together. I called it 'Land Of Machines' and it's my work of the past 3 years. I tried to be really flexible and apart of Techno productions that I am normally really into, I also wanted to include some of my deep house tracks. Album is split into 2 parts. The first one came out on the 9th of June. I will release the second part in 2-3 months.I was aiming for really groovy, dark, elegant and sophisticated Techno. I hope it will put smile on peoples faces! YOU HAVE A TOUR LINED UP, WHERE ARE YOU GOING? I am very glad that me and my agent were able to organise this tour. I managed to visit many amazing cities including Barcelona, London, Kiev, Krakow, Milan or Berlin, to name just a few, I am really looking forward to my upcoming dates which include Tel Aviv, Moscow, Rome, Zurich as well as China and Thailand. In autumn this year we will try to organise the rest of the tour in Australia, USA, Canada and South America, but that's after we release second part of 'Land Of Machines LP' WHAT ELSE CAN YOU LET YOUR FANS KNOW ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH C.J. HARTMANN THIS YEAR? Apart of the album I have a few more great surprises waiting for you this year. I have finally managed to get my music signed to a label which I have always been dreaming of. Unfortunately I can't give any details as for the moment, but it's a very exciting project and probably the best thing that happened in my career by now… Of course we can't forget about the second part of my debut album, my collaboration with the amazing Joe Le Groove that will be featured on the album of a great singer and friend Mz Sunday Luv and a few remixes I have planned for this year. Stay tuned, there's a lot of good stuff coming your way! HAHAHAHA, CHEERS MATE. IF YOU COULD INVENT A NEW GENRE OF MUSIC, WHAT WOULD YOU CALL IT? I often call my music 'Lazy Techno'. I like to use a lot of dark, typical for my music sounds, but I also like to keep driving groove, a story line and lower tempo. I am trying to stay fresh when it comes to my sound. These days I have been experimenting a lot with other sorts of music like chill out, electronica or down- tempo to develop my skills as a musician and to be more flexible regarding the music I'm making. For now my focus goes on Techno and Deep House, though. I just love making people dance. Hehe WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS FROM NOW ON? I totally see myself doing what I am doing right now. Of course with another 5 years of experience on stage and in the studio, but still with the same smile on my face! IF YOU WERE BANISHED TO A DESERT ISLAND AND HAD TO TAKE 3 FAMOUS PEOPLE, WHO WOULD IT BE? I'd love to take my friends instead, I think I'd have much more fun with them than with any 'famous people'. I think once we're together we'd know how to make the best out of it.
