Do you go in with a clean slate and hold expectations very high? Hudson: "High expectations. They've got enough to think and worry about with this year than to dwell on last year. It's eyes forward all the way. We are very de- termined to go out there and play well. We've got some guys who have worked hard and it should equate to some good things for us, but at no point am I worried about what happened, what went on last year. I'm com- pletely focused on this season." Gold and Black: Do you get a sense of together- ness from them, not only on the field, but in the locker room, etc.? Hudson: "I think we're closer. We've worked on it. This is a great time of year because your togetherness gets challenged because you've been in camp, you're sore, you're hot, I'm on your rear end. I'm sure there are guys who want to turn around and punch me in the nose and they're frustrated. But that's part of the process and the discipline. We still have another week to stay to- gether and then move into that game mode a little bit." Gold and Black: You largely kept the same per- sonnel from Day 1 until the jersey scrimmage. Ryan Watson got in for Howard; Ezechukwu in at rush; and Bentley in the mix. Is there anything that can still be decided in the last days until the opener? Hudson: "Absolutely, you can get fired in a minute. You can get fired for your attitude. If you're not taking care of yourself and not able to sustain that position, this is when the training room is pretty full, guys get- ting ice and treatment. If you take a step back on that, the guy is going to catch up to you. There's a lot that can still happen, especially this week. "Nothing would surprise me.
