rom both quality and quantity perspectives, Purdue
is pleased with where it sits in recruiting heading
into the fall.
Boilermaker coaches wanted to hold double-digit
commitments heading into the season.
As of the second week of August, Purdue held 13 so-
lidified commitments, with at least one more potentially
on the horizon and another subject to a player making
modest academic strides.
"I said (in the winter) that coming out of the summer
and heading into fall camp, I wanted to be around 11,"
Coach Darrell Hazell said. "We're above 11 and I think
we have some guys who are pretty close to getting on the
hook. I'm very pleased with where we are, but I don't like to
get too many (early), because you need to go out and find
out exactly what your needs are once you start playing in
the season."
Several positions of need are already locked down,
allowing for Purdue to hone in on a few important re-
maining ones, though verbally committed players must
always continue to be recruited all the way up to signing
day.
