38 IllustrateD volume 25, issue 1 f players recruited to play running back, and they've come in all shapes and sizes. New Jersey's Rob Ennis, recruited by other schools with receiver or defensive back in mind, is smallish, but fast, the fastest of the four backs who've agreed to sign with Purdue in February. At the other end of the spectrum, Ohio's Richard Wor- ship is 6-foot-1 and nearly 250, a fullback-type physically though he was recruited for a traditional running back role. Somewhere in between are Georgia's Tario Fuller and Southern Indiana's Markell Jones, the latter being one of Purdue's primary in-state priority targets and one of the most productive offensive players in the state. The four running back commitments complete — as- suming all their commitments stick, a necessary quali- fier nowadays — a signing class that'll also include the quarterback Purdue wanted. Kentucky's Elijah Sindelar is a top-20-ranked player at his position nationally and likely to put up some of the biggest numbers this season of any QB in the high school ranks. FULL AT LINEBACKER Purdue landed three of its top early linebacker tar- gets when it received pledges from Florida's Sawyer Dawson, Maryland's Wyatt Cook and Ohio's Markus Bai- ley, almost certainly closing the books on that position in the 2015 class. Dawson, a three-star Rivals.com prospect, chose Pur- due over an offer from Syracuse; Bailey, also a three- star recruit, had narrowed his list to the Boilermakers, Duke and Indiana before committing to Purdue. Cook chose Purdue over offers from Maryland and Vir- ginia, among others. OFFENSIVE LINEMAN NEXT UP? Purdue offered West Lafayette High School offensive lineman Peyton Truitt a few weeks after a camp in June and a few more weeks since he'd made an early commitment to Miami (Ohio). During Purdue's training camp, Truitt, who grew up with- in a mile of Ross-Ade Stadium as a Purdue fan, visited sev- eral times and could be close to deciding whether he'll flip to the Boilermakers or stick with the RedHawks, with the for- mer scenario seeming more likely right now than the latter. A commitment from Truitt would give Purdue its sec- ond offensive linemen, as he'd join Indianapolis Cha- tard's Matt McCann, another of Purdue's top early in- state targets who committed in the summer. TWO FOR THE SECONDARY Purdue has tapped Texas for its first two defensive back recruits. Safety Andy Chelf is considered a smart, physical player from one of the nation's top program's at South- lake Carroll near Dallas. Cornerback Isaac Warren was one of Purdue's most recent commitments, quickly switching off a commit- ment to Sam Houston State, right at the same time Ari- zona State offered, as well. That one could get exciting, though, since Texas has been showing interest in the John Tyler High School DB, too. Brian Neubert Committed running back Markell Jones was one of the in- state recruits Purdue wanted most for its 2015 class.
