IllustrateD volume 25, issue 1 39 f Brown, a former high school teammate of current sopho- more receiver DeAngelo Yancey, was one of Purdue's earliest offers at his position. He also fielded reported offers from Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Wake Forest and numer- ous others. WHAT NOW? Purdue is expected to sign a max class of around 25 play- ers, with it being more than halfway to that number currently. Emphasis now will go to the line of scrimmage, where Purdue needs multiple defensive linemen, at least another one or two offensive linemen and at least two tight ends, a position where the Boilermakers lose four seniors, includ- ing their top three players. VISIT PLANS Purdue's staff seems committed to bringing in the major- ity of their official visitors after the season, but some — as was the case last season — will visit this fall, most of them during the biggest games of the Big Ten season, it can safely be assumed. Last year, Purdue brought in the bulk of its official visitors during the first two weekends in December. SPECIALIST SPOTS SHORED UP Purdue has two specialists com- mitted, the first being snapper Ben Makowski, recruited to step in for graduating multi-year snapper Jesse Schmitt next season. Indianapolis Cathedral punter Joe Schopper was added, on scholarship, to Purdue's class to replace Austin McGehee, the freshman who left the program in July. Schopper had also considered preferred walk-on invitations at Tex- as and Minnesota. WIDE RECEIVER WANTS IN Rivals.com three-star wide receiver Tyshawn Brown of Atlanta Mays High School has indicated plans to sign with Purdue, which he'll be free to do if his test scores improve this fall.
