able with it," said Cooper, a 5-foot-8 guard at Lawrence
North. "I'm working on it a lot more.
"(Before) people would play off me like 10 feet be-
cause they knew I couldn't shoot. So the fact that I
can shoot (now) helps me a little bit, because I like to
drive."
Even without a consistent jumper, Cooper turned in
a solid junior season for Lawrence North, averaging
a team-high 16.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.5 steals and
3.7 assists per game. Cooper, a lefty, can play multiple
positions, as a combo guard and on the wing, and her
strength allows her to defend in the post, as well. But
at Purdue, where she verbally committed more than a
year ago, she's likely a 2 guard or perhaps undersized
3.
This season, she'll be looking for a state champion-
ship after falling a bit short last year. The top-ranked
Wildcats were upset by No. 2 Bedford North Lawrence,
led by McBryde, in overtime of the Class 4A state semi-
state in March. Bedford went on to win the title.
Cooper, who is ranked No. 52 overall in the Class
of 2015 by ESPN, was named the Indianapolis Star's
Super Team Player-of-the-Year for girls basketball.
"She's one of the few kids in my 18 years in various
aspects of the game (boys and girls) that I would pay
to watch because how much effort and energy she ex-
pends," North coach Chris Giffin told the Star. "She is
always all over the place making plays."

Dominique McBryde might be only scratching the
surface of her abilities.

Perhaps the most impressive of the '15 commitments, due
to her combination of size and mobility, Dominique McBryde
helped Bedford North Lawrence to a state title last season.
