26 Potato Grower | SEPTEMBER 2014 More teams and more prize money set the stage for the 24th annual Potato Grow- er Industry Golf Tournament at Idaho Falls Country Club on July 14. Thirty-two teams competed for more than $8,000. The Bitter family of Bittersweet Farms in Terreton, Idaho, captured the top prize of $225 to each team member. Kent Bitter, Bittersweet Farms co-owner, won the scramble in a foursome with his sons, Mark and Doug, and daughter, Shayla. "We putted really well," Kent said. They shot a 14-under-par 58 to edge the second-place team of Mel and Rob Er- ickson, each of Potato Grower magazine, Bruce Keck, Agro-Culture Liquid Fertil- izers sales rep, and Tim Parry, BASF sales rep, by two strokes. Second place earned $175 per team member. Third place went to the team from Snake River Plains Potatoes of Ucon, Idaho. Co-owner Howard Johnson partici- pated with his brothers, David and Brent, and son, Kevin. The team also scored 60 but lost the second-place tiebreaker. They each pocketed $150. The top seven teams won prizes. "This year's event was again a great success in bringing together many in the industry for a fun day together," said Jason Harris, Potato Grower publisher.
