12 • RV PRO • SEPTEMBER 2014 rv-pro.com T hree Way Campers is Georgia's oldest RV dealership, and one of the state's largest. ose two developments are points of pride to brothers and co-owners Jeff and David Porter, who have worked hard to build on the legacy of their more than 50-year-old, family-owned dealership based in Marietta. "We value our history and our roots in the community," Jeff Porter says. "At the same time, we never take anything for granted; we always strive to improve." To do that, the brothers say they have kept the best practices handed down by their father, Charles, and their grandfather, Ralph Porter, who started the business. (Ralph Porter founded ree Way Motors, a used car dealership, with two business partners in 1952 before transitioning to selling RVs in the 1960s. At the time, he did a brisk business selling truck campers.) Some of those best practices maintained by the brothers include things such as taking the time to do a thorough orienta- tion on an RV's features and benefits when owners take delivery of the unit, avoiding high-pressure sales tactics, and maintaining transparency with regard to unit pricing. Also, the brothers say they have stayed true to their father's philosophy of operating the dealership in a fiscally conservative manner and avoiding situations that might over- extend the business. At the same time, the brothers say they are also forward-focused: they strive to keep current with the latest trends and technologies for reaching customers, they've modified their product selection to meet changing consumer tastes, and e Georgia dealership succeeds by adapting to changing customer trends while remaining faithful to its roots.
