FALL2014 17 The coaches will evaluate the kids and divide them into teams and watch them play. Since VSC has no turf, its soccer programs are only for very young kids. "They age out at a point because they realize that they need turf, or they need to be outside." Still, though, programs like Lil' Kickers provide daytime business and connect VSC with other programs in the community. Good relationships with community programs are, of course, good for business. Because VSC has a bus stop at the facility, kids can practice right after school. Once they've aged out of the program at VSC, they can continue with the same coach, who offers other soccer and lacrosse programs in the community. He refers kids who are not ready for his program to the programs at VSC. Being on the bus route also allows VSC to offer after school programs that make efficient use of daytime hours, which can be difficult to fill. Parents appreciate the convenience of their kids' being bussed to the facility straight from school. VSC has established a relationship with another bus company and hires a bus to pick up children at a local preschool. The instructor rides the bus to the preschool, helps the preschoolers get on the bus, and brings them back to the facility. These preschoolers will grow into basketball players and volleyball players and baseball players–the future of VSC. VSC has benefitted from cross-promoting programs within the facility, as well as throughout the community.
