A
fter a 31-0 loss on the road at No-
tre Dame, Michigan is in desperate
need of a bounce-back win. There might
not be a better time to play Miami (Ohio),
which went winless last year and is 0-2
this season under first-year head coach
Chuck Martin.
The RedHawks currently own the lon-
gest active FBS losing streak in the land
at 18, including Saturday's defeat against
FCS competitor Eastern Kentucky, which
had not beaten a higher-level foe since
1985.
ESPN.com ranked the RedHawks as
the worst team in the FBS ranks after the
opening weekend, and it's not likely that
the team will move up from the cellar after
their latest defeat.
However, if there is a right time for
Miami to be as overmatched as it will be
against Michigan, it is on the heels of the
Wolverines' defeat in South Bend. Mar-
tin is a longtime disciple of Notre Dame
mentor Brian Kelly — he led Grand Val-
ley State to a pair of Division II national
championships after Kelly left for Central
Michigan, and then the duo reunited to
