The NHL MIKE KOMISAREK EARNS TRYOUT WITH NEW JERSEY The New Jersey Devils have in- vited former Michigan defenseman Mike Komisarek to training camp for an unsigned tryout in September. Komisarek, who played 32 games for the Carolina Hurricanes last sea- son (zero goals, four assists, 14 pen- alty minutes), was the Montreal Ca- nadiens' first pick (seventh overall) in 2001. He's played for the Habs, Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes and has notched 14 goals, 67 assists (81 points) with 679 penalty minutes in 551 career NHL games. ❏ Max Pacioretty • NHL The Montreal Canadiens will play with no captain but will utilize four alternate captains this season, and Pacioretty will be one of them. Fitzgerald Toussaint • NFL The former Michigan running back notched a 100‑yard game in the preseason to initially make Baltimore's 53‑man roster, but he was cut before the first game.
