It wasn't much, the play went for just seven yards, but it converted a fourth down and was between two defenders. 2. Danny Anthrop 33 6-0, 191, Jr. Quarterback 1. Danny Etling 5 6-2, 218, So. 63-of-110 for 541 yards, 4 TDs / 4 int.* 17 rushes, 36 yards, 2 TDs* Etling was excellent in the first half before cooling in the second. But make no mistake: This was a big- time improvement. Now, he'll have to build from here. The sophomore hit on a couple of his intermediate attempts, a good sign. Still, he missed a couple of the short ones, which might have made a big difference. 2. Austin Appleby 12 6-5, 229, So. Running Back 1. Raheem Mostert 8 5-11, 190, Sr. 55 rushes, 246 yards, 1 TD* 9 rec., 60 yards* Mostert hasn't had the pro- duction he – or Purdue – has wanted the last couple games, mainly missing on big-play opportunities. A couple times against the Irish he seemed to be a block away from breaking into the second level. The same could be said for Hunt. He needs to hold on to the ball, too. 2. Akeem Hunt 1 5-9, 183, Sr. Center 1. Robert Kugler 57 6-3, 298, Jr. Purdue had good protection, for the most part, against the Fighting Irish, a credit to Kugler's ability to get blockers in the right spots. Barron, who hasn't played this season, is likely to redshirt; Cermin would get snaps at center, if needed. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Right Guard 1. Jordan Roos 70 6-4, 312, So. Roos had to fight for his start- ing job in the spring and in training camp, but now that he has it has been playing well. Clements is playing only on Purdue's field goal team. 2. Corey Clements 71 6-8, 400, Jr. Right Tackle 1. J.J. Prince 73 6-6, 302, So. After struggling late in Purdue's loss to Central Michigan, Prince had a come- back game vs. the Fighting Irish. The Boilermakers allowed three sacks, but only one could be considered a result of poor blocking up front. Prince should get some breaks now, with Cermin available to play some on the right side. 2. Jason Tretter 76 6-6, 304, R-Fr. Wide Receiver 1. Danny Anthrop 33 6-0, 191, Jr. 7 rec., 98 yards, 1 TD* Anthrop had four catches for 61 yards, including a big catch- and-run in the first quarter that set up Purdue's first touchdown. On the play, he lined up near the line, hiding behind Holmes. It was well-designed. He did have a drop, however, one that potentially could have gone for big yardage. 2. B.J. Knauf 83 5-10, 187, So. Wide Receiver 1. DeAngelo Yancey 7 6-2, 218, So. 3 rec., 57 yards, 1 TD* Yancey was targeted six times against Notre Dame, but unlike previous weeks, he came up with a couple of big receptions. His first was NFL-quality, when he went up in the back of the end zone, hauled in a pass and tapped his toe inbounds. The second, on an excellent throw by Danny Etling, came after he got open down the left sideline. 2. Gregory Phillips 13 6-0, 190, Fr. Tight End 1. Gabe Holmes 86 6-5, 258, Sr. 6 rec., 44 yards, 1 TD* Holmes made a couple nice catches, on one going down to the turf to pick the ball up. But again, he had a couple drops too, including one that halted a drive on fourth down. Sinz has been excel- lent, catching everything near him. 2. Justin Sinz 84 6-4, 249, Sr. (5) Left Tackle 1. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Cermin has played well enough through the first three weeks to earn him another start, but Hedelin becomes available after serving a three- game NCAA suspension. Both will play. When Hedelin is in, look for the pos- sibility of Cermin spelling at center or right tackle. 2. David Hedelin 75 6-4, 295, Jr. Left Guard 1. Jason King 72 6-3, 309, So. King has played pretty well for most of the season, yet he had a couple errors vs. ND. His false start cost the Boilermakers five yards near the goal line, but they scored regardless on the next play. But on a fourth-and-1 in the second quarter, he missed a block that contributed to a failed conversion. 2.
