Saint Louis enters the weekend riding a seven-match win streak, while Morehead State is off to an 0-10 start after winning the Ohio Valley Conference and making the NCAA Tournament last year. Notre Dame (1-7) defeated Northeast- ern last weekend in the Shamrock Invita- tional for its first win of the season. "At the beginning of the year, we may have ranked them Notre Dame, Morehead, Saint Louis," Shondell said. "As things have played out this fall, Saint Louis is clearly playing better than anyone else to date. We play them first, which is nice because we can prepare for Saint Louis a lot this week in practice." Saturday's match against Notre Dame is Purdue's annual one in Mackey Arena, which gives Purdue a chance to play in front of big crowd to simulate an NCAA Tournament en- vironment. As of Wednesday afternoon, 4,000 tick- ets had been sold, Shondell said, and he ex- pected a crowd between 6,000-8,000. Nichol said the Boilermakers are excited to go home after back-to-back weekends on the road. "Coming home after a weekend that didn't go exactly how we wanted it to go is going to be big for us," Nichol said. "We want a 3-0 weekend going into the Big Ten season." Women's golf takes sixth in first fall tournament After entering the final round in second place, the women's golf team finished in sixth place in the season-opening Minne- sota Invitational earlier this week. The Boilermakers posted a team score of 910 for the tournament. Junior Anna Appert Lund, who trans- ferred to Purdue from Morehead State in the spring, was Purdue's top individual finisher as she tied for eighth place at six-over par. Cross Country hosts indiana interCollegiates The cross country team holds its lone home meet of the year Friday as Indiana, Indiana State and several other in-state schools travel to West Lafayette for the Indi- ana Intercollegiates. The meet will be just the second of the season for the Boilermakers after competing in the Belmont Opener on Aug. 29. In addition, Paul Sadler has been promoted to creative ser- vices manager. He began working at Purdue in 1983 as assistant superintendent of Ross-Ade Stadium.
