GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 6 • 34 Hazell said. "( We're trying) to identify as many guys that are making plays for us. Obviously on offense, Danny Anthrop has been consistently making plays, and Akeem Hunt has been a guy who is consistently making plays. But when you're getting two- and three- and four-yard chunks, I think it's hard for play- callers to have to do that the length of the field. So we need more eight-, 10-yard offensive plays to help us continue on third down because that's where we really struggled on Saturday." After a 146-yard rushing performance in Week 1, Mostert didn't rush for more than 53 in the next three games and also lost two fumbles. Hunt had 90 yards rushing against Iowa last week, cementing his starter- type snaps. But Mostert does have home-run ability — he just has to show it again. "I think he's got to get back into the flow and maybe get some of those big runs he needs to have, which will help his con - fidence," Hazell said. Knauf said he's been healthy the last two weeks after miss- ing the Notre Dame game while getting tests for a potential groin injury. "I think I can bring a little big-play factor into the game," Knauf said. THREE AND OUT For most of the game, the IN THE OPPOSITE CORNER (Comments from last week's and this week's opposing coaches) Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz "I'm very happy with the victory. Purdue played very hard and very well. We did some things that weren't so good in the first half. A lot of that is credit to them. … Purdue was doing a good job de- fending us in that first quarter-plus. The offense stuck with it and the second half they pulled through. The defense, we stuck with it the whole game and got things done. … There was nothing easy about it (Saturday), and that's how it is in Big Ten football." Illinois coach Tim Beckman "We know that this pro- gram has not had back-to- back wins with the Purdue Cannon trophy since 2002. So this senior class has an oppor- tunity to do something that hasn't been done here in over 10 years by the University of Illinois. "I think (Purdue has) got- ten better each week. They've been competitive. I thought last week they played an Iowa football team that we know is pretty good at their place and played them for four quarters. They were really in the foot- ball game the whole time. "I know (Purdue head coach) Darrell (Hazell) personally. I've coached with Darrell and a lot of guys on their staff I know personally. I know they'll be well- prepared and ready to roll."
