GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 7 • 1 BY STACY CLARDIE SClardie@GoldandBlack.com A fter racing between rows of players in the narrow visitor's locker room at Illinois, Darrell Hazell literally was lifted up by a player and screamed in celebration. Soon after, he was handed a game ball by captain Justin Sinz. Then, the Boilermakers wildly celebrated, emphatically singing the fight song. It seemed a reaction befitting a championship. Or a road victory by a double- digit underdog for its first Big Ten win in two years. At least there was some proper perspective post-revelry. "This was a total program win, and I hope a program-turning win that can get this thing rolling to go get No. 2 next week, No. 3 the week following and we'll see where we end up. "One game isn't the goal. It's never been one game. It's been a championship." Purdue, now 3-3, desperately needed to beat Illinois, an oppo - nent that was evenly matched and has had its own struggles getting conference victories.
