OUR PLAYLIST Battle Cry ANGEL HAZE ft SIA The F**kin' problem A$AP ROCKY Not Afraid EMINEM Read It All About It PROFESSOR GREEN ft Dolcenera Here's the hip hop on our playlist this month: Verb T, arguably one of the best lyricists this country has ever seen, dropped his long awaited 9 track EP Medicated Dreams earlier this month. Medicated Dreams was written and produced entirely by Verb as he was recieving treatment for Crohn's disease, and chronicles the thoughts, feelings, and ramblings of a man going through a very difficult part of his life while on a lot of prescription medication - hence the title. The single, 'Powdered Dreams', is a full trip through the mind of a man undergoing a personal crisis. The same can be said of the track 'Hospital Bars', recorded on a video camera on location in a hospital. If all this sounds a bit depressing, then final track 'Reprogram' should set things straight with its unplifting feel. (Matt) ALBUM OF THE MONTH VERB T - MEDICATED DREAMS UK Hip Hop legend goes all dark with this new EP. ARTIST OF THE MONTH RAG 'N' BONE MAN High Focus signing making waves with his soulful hip hop. HIP HOP LEGENDS FAT JOE Origianal Terror Squad member and Big Pun collaborator will be rocking London this month. Fat Joe is probably best known as the collaborator, friend, and all round part- ner-in-crime of legendary East Coast MC Big Pun, and as a member of Pun's crew Terror Squad. Together, they wrote and performed some of the biggest gang- sta/thug rap tunes of the 90's, making Joe a bona fide legend of the game. UK fans rarely got the chance to see the duo in action, but this will be at least partly rectified when Fat Joe hits the O2 arena for a massive show with Notorious B.I.G collaborator Ma$e and fe- male hip hop songstress Foxy Brown. Joe has a reputation as an incredible live performer, making this an unmissable event and, with a current talk of a new album and long-standing rumours of a Terror Squad reunion, the future looks bright for this legend of the rap game. (Matt) Described as "One of the most forward-thinking and tech- nically gifted blues singers in the United Kingdom", Rag 'N' Bone Man is becoming a serious player in the UK Hip Hop arena. High Focus records (home to the likes of Dirty Dike and Fliptrix) are the ones who've picked up Rag N Bone Man and have released his new EP 'Put That Soul On Me', which is an absolute banger. The EP combines a laid back, soulful flow with classic Blues influences and chilled out Hip Hop beats . Put That Soul On Me also features killer production from one of the other big names in UK Hip Hop and Rag's High Focus label mate, London emcee Dirty Dike, and already is a strong contender for release of the year. 2014 will be a BIG year for Rag 'N' Bone Man.
