7 | P a g e If there is no stabiliser in a pool a person will need to use twice as much chlorine! One must however be careful. If stabiliser levels climb too high it will interfere with the ability of chlorine to do its job correctly. Therefore it is important to check these levels regularly. When purchasing look at the label, the active constituent will say Sodium Dichloroiscyanurate Stabilised Tablets Also referred to as Ticca Tabs, Once a Week Tablets, Trichlor Tabs and of course its chemical name Sodium Trichloroisocyanurate Acid. This chlorine is the slowest dissolving of all chlorines and I might add the strongest. This is of course where the nick name Once a Week Tablets came from, because these tablets are used to place in a Tablet Dispenser or Tablet Floater to dissolve slowly over a few days. As Stabilised Chlorine it contains a stabiliser so one still must be careful to monitor the stabiliser levels in the pool to ensure they don't get too high. They are fantastic when one has to go away for a few days. They give a person peace of mind that they won't be returning to a yucky green pool or that the neighbour doesn't have to leap over the fence to dose the pool every day.
