The next step is prolonged consistency. 2 Can the defense bounce back from back-to-back rough outings? Or is this its new reality after it played so well for a few games earlier in the season. Minnesota is a one-dimensional offense, so that could help, as could another week in the books to acclimate to the loss of linebacker Sean Robinson. 3 Is Minnesota for real on defense? It still seems odd to see the Gophers — and not Michigan State, Ohio State or whoever else — leading the Big Ten in total defense and allowing less than 16 points per game in conference play. 4 Can Purdue make Minnesota throw it? That seems counterintui- tive after the Boilermakers have been gouged through the air the past two weeks, but Minnesota's a run-first-second-and-third team and would like to stick to that plan if at all possible. 5 Does Akeem Hunt's roll continue?
