GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 8 • 15 Cornerback 1. Anthony Brown 9 5-11, 192, Jr. 34 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 6 PBU* Brown made great pass break- ups on a couple throws, one into the end zone. His physical- ity and strength has made him very good in coverage. He's been playing better on the outside than he did as a safety last year. 2. Leroy Clark 3 5-10, 187, So. Strong Safety 1. Frankie Williams 24 5-9, 189, Jr. 52 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 sack, 3 int., 6 PBU, 1 FR* A game after having a rough outing against Illinois, Williams was solid vs. Michigan State, and made one of the best plays of the day when he jumped a route for his third intercep- tion of the year. 2. Austin Logan 5 6-0, 200, So. Free Safety 1. Taylor Richards 4 5-10, 196, Sr. 16 tackles, 2 PBU* Likely wanting better coverage in its secondary, Richards was playing with the first team dur- ing practice this week, mean- ing he might get more snaps than Feichter on Saturday. Feichter would still be the extra defensive back in five-DB sets. 2. Landon Feichter 44 6-0, 192, Sr. (5) Cornerback 1. Antoine Lewis 23 5-10, 185, Sr. (5) 24 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 4 PBU, 2 FF* Purdue might be making a change at cornerback, in more ways than one. Instead of keep- ing each corner on each side, they'll rotate them, with Brown playing on the boundary (short) side of the field and Hunte on the field. And that it's Hunte would be a change too, as he replaced Lewis in practice this week. 2. Da'Wan Hunte 2 5-9, 175, R-Fr. Rush End 1. Jalani Phillips 89 6-4, 265, Sr. 18 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FR* Phillips had only one tackle, as the Boilermakers didn't get much pressure from their front, either in the passing game or stopping Spartan runners behind the line of scrimmage. Since the start of Big Ten play, Robinson has seen his snaps decrease. 2. Gelen Robinson 13 6-1, 239, Fr. Strongside Linebacker 1. Jimmy Herman 29 6-4, 230, So. 16 tackles* In his first game playing every snap for the Boilermakers — he has to now, with Sean Robinson out — Herman came through with five tackles. Although still lacking experience, Herman's too valuable right now to get any sort of breather off the field. 2. Dezwan Polk-Campbell 6 6-3, 212, R-Fr. Middle Linebacker 1. Ja'Whaun Bentley 35 6-2, 250, Fr. 42 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 int., 1 PBU, 1 FR* Purdue thinks Bentley con- tinues to improve, showing strength and maturity that belie his age. On one play Saturday, he shed the block of an interior offensive lineman to drive left to make a tackle in a hole. He had seven tackles in his first start in the middle. 2. Garrett Hudson 16 6-3, 230, R-Fr. Weakside Linebacker 1. Danny Ezechukwu 36 6-2, 246, R-Fr. 9 tackles, 0.5 TFL, 0.5 sacks* Ezechukwu came away from Saturday's game, his first start, feeling pretty good, par- ticularly because he had only three missed assignments. He'll still need to start to trust his instincts more, but that should come with more experience. 2. Andy James Garcia 42 6-0, 217, So. Defensive End 1. Ryan Russell 99 6-5, 273, Sr. 21 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sack, 1 PBU* Russell had only a couple tackles, although one of them was nearly a sack, when he flushed Connor Cook from the pocket then pulled him down at the line of scrimmage. He also helped slow the Spartans down on a jet sweep, when he stepped out in front of the rusher. 2. Evan Panfil 95 6-4, 251, So. Nose Tackle 1. Ra'Zahn Howard 14 6-3, 323, So. 10 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU* Purdue wasn't nearly as good up the middle vs. MSU as it had been a week before against Illinois. The Spartans gashed the Boilermakers for nearly 300 yards rushing. Neither Howard, nor Watson, had a tackle vs. Michigan State. 2. Ryan Watson 92 6-2, 291, Jr. Defensive Tackle 1. Jake Replogle 54 6-5, 269, So. 17 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU* Purdue's defensive line had only five total tack- les against the Spartans, perhaps a sign that the Boilermakers weren't getting much done near the line of scrimmage. Replogle had two, each to end a three-yard run by Jeremy Langford. 2. Ryan Watson 92 6-2, 291, Jr. DEFENSE VS Minnesota Offense LT 65 Josh Campion 6-5, 317, Jr. 74 Marek Lenkiewicz 6-5, 292, Sr. (5) LG 52 Zacc Epping 6-2, 318, Sr. (5) 68 Isaac Hayes 6-2, 320, So.
