GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 8 • 16 Quarterback 1. Austin Appleby 12 6-5, 229, So. 48-of-80 passing, 502 yards, 3 TDs / 2 int.* 19 rushes, 85 yards, 3 TDs* Appleby put Purdue in a position to win on Saturday, largely making good decisions against a very good defense. He has some things to clean up, like the throwaways just before he is being sacked and perhaps in the zone-read game, but his energy and enthusiasm have been infectious. 2. Danny Etling 5 6-2, 218, So. Wide Receiver 2. Danny Anthrop 33 6-0, 191, Jr. 30 rec., 469 yards, 3 TDs* Anthrop keeps turning in big games for the Boilermakers, including his career- high nine-reception day against the Spartans. Those nine went for 133 yards and a touchdown. Hart could get more touches this week. 2. Trae Hart 5-10, 157, Fr. Center 1. Robert Kugler 57 6-3, 298, Jr. On Hunt's fourth-down touchdown run, Kugler went with a quick snap that likely caught the Spartans off guard. Immediately after he directed the blocking scheme, Kugler put his hand on the ball and snapped it, rather than waiting to be signaled from Austin Appleby. It was a veteran move. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Right Guard 1. Jordan Roos 70 6-4, 312, So. Purdue has been pleased with Roos' productivity at right guard, as he's been part of the interior that has largely spurred the Boilermakers' run- ning game. 2. Corey Clements 71 6-8, 400, Jr. Right Tackle 1. J.J. Prince 73 6-6, 302, So. Purdue is going with a rota- tion at right tackle, with Prince getting the starts but Cermin playing significantly as well. Cermin was part of the lead group, with Holmes and Sinz too, who led the way on Keyante Green's 36-yard rush. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Wide Receiver 1. Cameron Posey 18 6-1, 182, So.* B.J. Knauf had a big game against the Spartans, going for seven receptions including a touchdown. And he blocked well on the perimeter and brings energy, so it's unfortunate that he's out for Saturday. Posey will start outside. 2. Danny Anthrop 33 6-0, 191, Jr. Wide Receiver 1. DeAngelo Yancey 7 6-2, 218, So. 9 rec., 106 yards, 2 TDs* Yancey had only one catch, but it was a big one at the time, as he hauled in a fourth- down throw to try to help Purdue get started on its final drive. He's still trying to get going, however, this season, as he's not shown the big-play potential of a year ago. 2. Gregory Phillips 13 6-0, 190, Fr. Tight End 1. Gabe Holmes 86 6-5, 258, Sr. 8 rec., 65 yards, 1 TD* Holmes had a 12-yard recep- tion that set Purdue up inside the red zone in the fourth quarter, on the Boilermakers' final touchdown drive. Sinz had four receptions, two of which he con- verted for first downs. 2. Justin Sinz 84 6-4, 249, Sr. (5) Left Tackle 1. David Hedelin 75 6-4, 295, Jr. On Akeem Hunt's long touch- down run, Hedelin did an excellent job of pushing off the defensive end, opening a hole in the left side of the line. Then, when Jason King slid off a double team and took on a linebacker, Hunt had plenty of daylight to run 52 yards for the score. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Left Guard 1. Jason King 72 6-3, 309, So. Purdue's rushed up the middle well the last couple weeks, the blocking effort of King and others being a major reason why. He's done well in getting to the second level to open cutback lanes. 2. Jason Tretter 76 6-6, 304, R-Fr. SPECIAL TEAMS OFFENSE VS Minnesota Defense DE 55 Theiren Cockran 6-6, 255, Jr. 87 Gaelin Elmore 6-6, 268, Fr. DT 46 Cameron Botticelli 6-5, 290, Sr. (5) 99 Andrew Stelter 6-4, 265, Fr. Akeem Hunt 1 5-9, 183, Sr. 87 rushes, 542 yards, 5 TDs* 24 rec., 131 yards* Considering he was going against one of the country's best rush defenses — Michigan State had allowed only 72 yards per game — Hunt's 96 was pretty good. And he might have had more had the Boilermakers not been in catch- up mode late. He could get to 1,000 yards this season. 2. Keyante Green 23 5-9, 210, R-Fr. — OR — Raheem Mostert 8 5-11, 190, Sr.
