GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 8 • 28 BY GOLD AND BLACK STAFF B.J. Knauf is hurt again. And this injury will keep him out for several weeks. After catching the last of his career-high seven passes against Michigan State Satur- day, Knauf was slammed into the ground directly on his left shoulder. He immediate- ly clutched at his left collar- bone area. Knauf didn't prac- tice on Tuesday or Wednes- day, and Coach Darrell Ha- zell announced Wednesday that the sophomore receiver would have surgery Thursday morning. Knauf had an X-ray after the game but then, after still feeling discomfort on Tuesday, he got another one on Wednesday. That revealed damage to the clavicle, Hazell said. "He'll be down for probably 3-4 weeks and hopefully we get him back for the last couple games," Hazell said. "It's unfortu - nate. He plays so hard. He throws his body around, and he's an im- pact player. We need to get him to stay healthy for some consec- utive weeks." Without Knauf, Purdue will slide Cameron Posey from his typical inside receiver spot to the outside, keep Danny Anthrop in the slot and play freshman Trae Hart in four-receiver packages. "(Losing Knauf ) hurts. He's a spectacular player. He's a huge playmaker for us," quarterback Austin Appleby said. "But the next guy is up. Trae Hart has a great opportunity to make a splash for us, and he's talented enough and he's worked hard enough that we won't skip a beat. Players can qualify for the list, which was originated from Hazell's decree of "A Players Must Get A's" by getting a 3.0 average or better for the semester. The Boilermakers had 40 players make the list in the fall. The team posted a 2.78 GPA for the spring, up from a 2.65 in the fall, and improved its cumulative GPA to 2.77, up from 2.75 prior to the spring semester. It is the highest team GPA for football in at least 20 years. Tom Campbell B.J. Knauf had surgery on Thursday to fix an injured clavicle and will be out at least three weeks.
