Boilermakers Pointed Toward Progress
Team frustrated by close losses
The change at quarterback to Austin
Appleby prior to the Illinois game
sparked the Boilermaker offense in
his first three starts. While Purdue's
rejuvenated offensive performances
yielded just one victory, the Boiler-
makers broke the 30-point barrier in
three straight games for the first time
since 2009.
Danny Anthrop has developed into the
Boilermakers' go-to receiver. The junior
has every reception of Purdue's that has
spanned more than 40 yards, and he
became the first Boilermaker since Brian
Alford in 1997 to have multiple 80-plus-
yard scoring receptions in his career.
One of the pleasant surprises of the
Boilermaker defense has been the
play of freshman linebacker Ja'Whaun
Bentley. Even with a shift in position and
responsibilities since the season-ending
injury to middle linebacker Sean Robin-
son, Bentley has been one of Purdue's
most productive players. He had a 44-
yard interception return against Central
Michigan.
