Dracula was never going to be the block-
buster of the year, but in its requisite
genre it certainly stands out. With a run-
ning time of a concise 92 minutes, the
film is tightly produced and flows well.
The action in the film is scintillating -
when Evans is mortal and immortal it re-
ally is all about him. The powers that he
gains make him absolutely unstoppable
and he tears through the armies of the
Sultan Mehmed (Dominic Cooper) with
complete ease.
The film leads up to a rather disappoint-
ing final clash between Dracula and
Mehmed. Mehmed uses Dracula's weak-
nesses against him which was not nice to
see; Dracula was supposed to be unde-
featable - tearing through armies! To see
him so weak in the final battle left me with
a sour taste in my mouth. However, the
overriding feel was one of complete and
utter fantasy and if you enjoy that type
of film then I would recommend you go
and see it. The costumes are very good
and the acting is decent. I would give it
a solid 7/10

Luke Evans shines in one of his only leading roles as
the terrifying and encapsulating Vlad the Impaler.
Better known as Dracula!
