Summer inspection results are certainly important, but they can only report the amount of virus that was in the seed when it was planted, not the amount present in the crop when it was harvested. Unfortunately, there can be a substantial amount of current-season virus spread into or within a seed field and this spread will not be reported with the summer inspection data. Only the PHC contains these winter test results. You owe it to yourself to get as much information as you can get your hands on about your seed potato purchases. As can be readily seen, the PHC contains a long list of information that is important to any seed buyer, whether he be a seed producer or a commercial grower. Where can you get a PHC? The PHC is available for the asking from the seed certification agency that certified the seed. Don't make a seed potato purchase until you have finished the paperwork.
