By Alexandra Pecci Droves of Loaves Volunteer George Arguropoulos unpacks donated loaves of bread in the existing space. t's just after noon on a drizzly autumn day, and a fleet of volunteers at Haven From Hun- ger are busy organizing donations, arrang- ing loaves of bread on a table, wheeling in 40-pound bags of onions from a delivery truck outside, and packing grocery bags with basics like raisin bran cereal, boxed milk that doesn't need refrigeration, and canned green beans. The food pantry is in the basement of an old, slightly decrepit Masonic temple on a Peabody side street, and its main room is incredibly cramped and crowded, filled to the edges with food, volunteers who scoot sideways past each other, and a handful of silent, sad-faced clients.
