organization is in the midst of renovating the building, a process that has been slow, due to funding needs, but also steady, thanks to generous monetary and in-kind donations from individuals and companies, like Pella Windows and Siemasko + Verbridge. "We truly depend on the kindness and the generosity of the community," Barbash says. "A little goes a long way." Barbash says they're completing the work on the building in phases; each phase starts when they get the funding to complete it. Barbash says they've had to meet disabled clients outside on the sidewalk to get food to them. But by the time the build- ing is completely finished, it will be 100 percent compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations. Barbash's vision for the rest of the build- ing is a bold and noble one. The upstairs, where the Masons used to hold their meet- ings, will one day be transformed from the dingy and dated room that it is now into a warm, open multipurpose area that will include not only a beautiful dining room but also space to provide everything from nutri- tion classes to flu clinics to education about finding a job and dressing for job interviews. Downstairs will be a full-source food pantry. "This will be much more of a commu- nity center than a food pantry," Barbash says.
